WTF is Hellraisers

Film & Social Club? 

Hellraisers Film & Social Club is a monthly event held at The Culver Theater in beautiful downtown Culver City. It's a theatrical screening and social gathering where genre movie enthusiasts come together to watch, drink and be merry.

The idea for this club struck friends James Harris & Alexander Westmore like a flying cenobite chain during a casual evening over beers. They were debating which film to watch next for their two man movie club when they thought: why not turn this into a theatrical experience?

They envisioned a monthly event where film fanatics like themselves could gather to see genre classics on the big screen and have some drinks afterwards to discuss what they’d just seen, what they’d like to see next, and make new friends.

Each month will have handpicked, period correct-ish trailers and pre-show material that will transport you back to the theatrical atmosphere of the film you are about to watch.

It will be the most fun you have at the movies and your new favorite night of the month.

  • As long as you buy a ticket to a movie or come to one of our drinks gatherings after a screening, we’ll consider you one of us.

    We are most active on our Instagram account and post updates, new screenings and other oddities there first.

    Additionally we have our official mailing list where we will send out updates sporadically, but we try to send as few emails a possible as to now spam our inbox.

  • Half of this club is the drinks at The Culver Theater Bar after the screening to hang out and chat about the film and other nonsense.

    We also encourage members to come before the film to do the same.

    Even if you can’t make the movie, you’re welcome to join the drinks before or after.

  • It will skew towards classic horror, but really anything that demands to be seen on the big screen is fair game. We want this to be the most fun moviegoing night of the month for you.

  • Yes! Come early and eat and drink at The Culver Theatre bar which has a great food menu.

  • Yes we plan to invite filmmakers and talent associated with the films we screen to join our screenings on a case by case basis.

  • You’re still welcome, just please don’t spill the drinks.
